A break down of this year’s Rugby League World Cup

From the 27th October to 2nd December, rugby league fans will be focused on the 28 matches taking place across Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. Pitting the home nations against the local powers and minnows like Lebanon and the United States, it will be a spectacular series of battles featuring the best in high-impact rugby.

Australia start as massive favourites as the defending champions, while New Zealand will be looking to avenge their poor display in the last final and win close to home soil. British teams and the French travel with high hopes of a good showing, England are third favourites while the Islander teams of Samoa, Fiji and Tonga will hope to do well and are worth an each way bet.

The final takes place in Brisbane, but the Australasian and cosmopolitan nature of the event makes for a great opportunity for a spectacular tour of the host cities and countries with a hospitality package. You could be in Hamilton, New Zealand, one night and Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea the next to soak in the distinct atmosphere of each island and be welcomed by the locals who are taking the tournament to heart, as well as experience the best in high-class resorts and entertainment.

Then there are the coastal cities around Australia hosting the bulk of the matches, with the must-see views of Sydney and Melbourne alongside the less-visited delights of Cairns and Townsville. There will be plenty of seats available at some of the lower key matches, but expect the locals and travelling fans to make plenty of noise and make each one a great spectacle.

You might also want to take in some of the Women’s World Cup matches taking place towards the end of the Men’s event in November and December. All those matches take place in Sydney and Brisbane, so you can have a longer stay and better explore these cities, which makes a great way of avoiding the northern winter while enjoying the best of international rugby.

Whatever way you plan to enjoy these events, get in touch with us at Finders Keepers to find out how we can make them an unforgettable experience with a great hospitality package.
