Dinner with the deadly duo

With a name like “The Deadly Duo”, this was never going to be an ordinary dinner, and our extraordinary star guests certainly made sure of that. On 10th October, Manchester United legends Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke kept our guests entertained throughout a delicious three course meal, giving them an unforgettable evening which is sure to stay with them and be the topic of many conversations.

Our evening featured a Q&A with the greatest striking duo in Premier League history, hosted by former youth Leeds star and comedian John Stiles . The duo, who were a superb example of partnership on the pitch despite – by their own admission! – being polar opposites off it, came together to score that legendary Champions League goal at the Nou Camp against Barcelona, and became part of Manchester United’s unprecedented treble – in 1998/99, the club won the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the Champions Leagues. It’s no surprise that, combined, they cost United around £20 million, a figure almost unheard of back in the 1990s.

The evening wasn’t just about fantastic food and sporting facts, though. With the plates cleared away for safety, we indulged in a spot of heads or tails, on a large scale. The team at Finders Keepers put together a compilation of some of our favourite Manchester United goals, pausing the video at the crucial moment. Our guests had to vote for whether the ball went into the net or not by signalling a “yes” by putting their hands on their heads, or a “no” by putting their hands on their behinds. If you got it wrong, you were out and had to sit down. The last one standing took home the prize.

Because we’re a specialist sports agency, you can be sure that the prizes we had on offer were some of the best in the business. We offered sports memorabilia, hospitality trips, an auction for a signed Wayne Rooney shirt, luxury holidays and a chance to have a meet and greet with Eric Cantona, among other things.

If you’d like to take part in our next sporting dinner to remember, it’s a Christmas special on Monday 5th December, with champion jockey Sir Tony McCoy. It’s sure to be an evening you won’t want to miss, and we’d love you to see you there. For more information, visit our event page.
