The UK has long been a home for excellent global sporting events, and, as a result, there are lots of tournaments and competitions set to be hosted here in 2018.
From world-famous contests like Wimbledon to horse-racing institutions like the Cheltenham Festival, there’s plenty to look forward to in this year’s sporting season.
Hosted in South London every year, the Championships – as they are formally known – is the world’s oldest tennis competition.
First played in 1887, Wimbledon is a fixture not just for tennis fans but for tourists from Britain and beyond who visit London in the summer months. This year, the contest begins on 2nd July and ends on the 15th, and will be one of the top sporting events on the calendar.
As a result of its prestige and popularity, Wimbledon is the ideal place to hold a corporate hospitality event. Traditions like strawberries and cream make the event appealing to many, while the presence of many high profile celebrity guests means there’s a lot of hype and pizzazz around the contest.
British Grand Prix
With entertainment like parties and concerts held alongside the sporting action, the British Grand Prix is a prime event – and not just for motor racing fans.
Held at Silverstone in Northamptonshire this year from the 6th until 8th July, if you’re looking for a corporate hospitality sporting event in the Midlands, then this is one not to be missed.
One of the premier events of the National Hunt, the Cheltenham Festival is a staple for punters up and down the country looking to try their luck on the horses.
Taking place this year over a four-day period, from 13th to 16th March, famous events include the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Queen Mother Champion Chase.
You and your guests can take part in the famous “Cheltenham roar”, a term given to the cheers created by the crowds as the first race begins.
